Let's get acquainted!

My love for sewing
My passion for sewing started from a need and a deep-rooted love for craftsmanship. I’ve always enjoyed seeing a tangible result from my work.
How did I start?
At first, I redesigned old clothes I found from second-hand and a Tšaika sewing machine during my middle school years. By the time I was in university, I had upgraded to a slightly fancier Brother home sewing machine, and the fabrics came from Abakhan’s weight fabrics instead of the second-hand.
I even sewed my own graduation dress (I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences). By the time I graduated, however, the online sewing tutorials I found had already run their course, because after the fifth attempt at sewing a jacket, it still ended up in the trash – oh, how it frustrated me. So, I dare say, as a long-time self-taught sewer, I remember those frustrations very well, because there were many.
In the meantime, I worked in customer service, as a photographer, an assistant, and finally…
I found my way to a vocational school and studied to become a tailor. I discovered that what I enjoy most about sewing is making outerwear and constructing patterns, and unfortunately, I also had the blogging bug from long ago. That’s why I always shared my work and knowledge. Over time, I realized that passing on sewing knowledge and pattern construction is what I could call my calling.
In 2018, I started my studio in Tallinn.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to teach hundreds of women in my courses, and through this experience, I’ve naturally developed a good understanding of the challenges in learning sewing. That’s why I’ve made it my mission to create easy-to-understand sewing materials – video tutorials, patterns, and PDF guides. I’m also proud that my patterns and tutorials have been featured in several Craft magazines (since 2019).
I’m also extremely happy when I’m invited as a guest to sewing clubs to explore a topic or lead a class. It’s a great opportunity to pack up the machines and tools and travel to the more remote areas of Estonia.
Now, my studio has found a much quieter location.
My starting point and the new location of my sewing studio is Märjamaa – just an hour’s drive from Tallinn, Pärnu, and Haapsalu.
Wishing you joyful sewing moments,
Ruth
